Therapy Approach

Welcome. You've decided to find a therapist, somebody that is a good fit for you and that you’ll be comfortable with. I want to honor this very important choice. It can be difficult to sift through confusing clinical words and acronyms to truly learn about a therapist’s style or approach, especially when you are hurting or eager to get started. I'd like to provide you with an overview of what to expect when working with me.

Your sense of safety is of the utmost importance. The rapport between client and therapist is crucial to a successful therapy experience, which is why I offer a space that is non-judgmental, collaborative, and yours to express yourself freely. I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all method when it comes to working with people, especially since there are hundreds of theories and models of therapy. Instead, my approach is integrative and pulls elements from several of them. By using a blend of evidence-based practices, therapy can be tailored to your needs with your beliefs, preferences, abilities, resources, and motivation taken into consideration. As someone who prioritizes comfort, I am passionate about guiding relaxed, yet efficient sessions.

My approach to working with you is adaptable, but there are essentials that you will find infused throughout our work together. Because my early career was spent working with adult survivors of sexual and domestic violence, I understand how past experiences can have an overwhelming impact on our wellness and leave us feeling powerless. Therefore, I will always work through a trauma-informed and empowerment lens so that you can regain power and create change in your life. Together, you and I will develop goals and uncover the strengths needed to achieve them.

As a Certified Sex Therapist, I assist women and gender-expansive folks in reaching new levels of safety, intimacy, self-exploration, and pleasure. My specialty is guiding people towards their sexual goals and desired expression, along with deepening relationship with self and others. While I help clients create change, I also embrace the grief that can accompany with sexual health. Whether you identify as monogamist, non-monogamist, ambiamorous, aromantic, asexual, straight, queer, kink, vanilla, etc., I am here to affirm all that brings consensual fulfillment. I provide medically-accurate information about sexual wellness and health. With the use of an integrative therapy approach + AASECT certification in sex therapy + training in relationships, anxiety, and trauma, it is possible to find fulfillment and authenticity.
